Buon 5772!/Happy 5772!

Buon anno!
Happy new year! No, it isn't a mistake XD Today is Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. To tell the truth it started last night as all Jewish holidays begin the evening before. Rosh Hashanah infact means the New Year's eve. We're officially in 5772! Jewish people thinks forward XD
On Rosh Hashanah is tradition to hear the sound of the shofar, the sort of trumped made from a ram's horn (you have blow in a really strange way to make it work, like
to blowing a rapsberry. I brought a mini version as a souvenir from Israel and I NEVER understanded how to play it), eating pomegranates, but especially eating apples with honey to wish a sweet new year! Yummy *ç*!

Ooh are you Jewish? The town I am from (Pittsburgh) has a veerry large Jewish population and there are lots of temples around my house and lots of tasty Jewish foods for sale! :3
My favorite is Challah bread. It makes excellent French toast too hehehe ...I had some this morning. (Although I am not Jewish myself, but lots of friends are.) :D

@Kate: I'm not a real Jew, though I feel like I'm one too. Half of my family is Jew in a really really atheistic way. We never celebrated a Jewish festivity, exept for Easter with all the jew part of the family, more a reunion than a religious celebration. The other half is catholic, and my mom is a believer, so we always celebrated only catholic festivities at home. Quite a pain in the ass, some of my mixed friends celebrate both and have twice the presents XDDD
I think you eat more jewish food than me, what a piety XD I live in a non jewish zone, so I never find kasher food around. But as I love pork and such I'm not really suffering either XD
So cool to use challà to make french toasts!!! :D
I like to write this kind of posts because a lot of people in Italy don't know anything about Jews, so I like to spread some information to make them/us look less unfamiliar.

@Acalia: altrettanto XD
