Merlot, spring collection

Con la primavera in arrivo (con bellissime giornate tiepide di sole e i primi nontiscordardimè che lasciano il posto a grigiore e pioggia), ho iniziato a guardare più seriamente le proposte di stile per la nuova stagione. Il poco che ho visto nei negozi però mi ha annoiato, sempre le solite cose, per quanto carine: jeans, pizzo, righe, pois...
Così ho ripiegato sul sito della marca che ho amato di più durante il mio ultimo viaggio in Giappone, Merlot.
Ho scoperto che ha lanciato una nuova stampa con orsi che si muovono in un'ambientazione circense. La trovo molto carina, ma soprattutto mi piace come sia utilizzata in stampe monocolori, con un effetto grafico molto bello (adesso ho voglia di procurarmi un buon pennarello nero per stoffa e una camicia bianca...).

With spring arriving (with beautiful sunny days and the first forgetmenots that give way to greyness and rain), I started to look more seriously at the trends for the new season. The little I saw in shops, however, bored me, it's always the same things, however nice: jeans, lace, stripes, polka dots...
So I fell back on the site of the brand that I loved most during my last trip to Japan, Merlot.
I found out that it launched a new pritn with bears in a circus setting. I find it very cute, but above all I like how it is used in monochrome prints, with a very nice graphic effect (now I want to get a good black fabric marker and a white shirt...).

Gran parte dell'adorazione che nutro per Merlot è legata alle sue stampe fra il carino e il bizzarro. Adoro le apine, trovo molto carine le angurie colorate e mi piace molto come gli orsetti formino delle righe. Trovo molto azzeccate (e potenzialmente copiabili) anche le bandierine ricamate sul colletto della camicia.

Much of the liking I have for Merlot is linked to its prints between cute and bizarre. I love the bees, I find very nice the colored watermelons and I really like how the bears form stripes. I think also the embroidered bunting on the collar of the shirt is cute (and potentially easy to copy).

Anche quando le stampe sono fondamentalmente banali (quadretti, pois), Merlot riesce a farle diventare carine e particolari grazie alla scelta dei tessuti, dei colori, ma soprattutto al taglio dei vestiti.

Even when prints are basically trivial (squares, dots), Merlot make them pretty and original thanks to the choice of fabrics, colors, but above the cut of the clothes.

Infatti Merlot ha tagli molto particolari, che a seconda del capo sono un pregio o un difetto. Ci sono idee geniali come il colletto festonato o quello semplicissimo per la camicia dal taglio maschile e il bavero della giacca destrutturata, ma in genere tutti i capi di questa marca hanno la caratteristica di cadere larghi. Quindi se da una parte hanno una comodità resa più interessante dal taglio particolare, dall'altra non esaltano le forme del corpo e tendono a risultare molto casual, al limite dello sciammannato.

In fact Merlot has very specific cuts, which according to the piece of clothing is a plus or a minus. There are brilliant ideas like the scalloped collar or the simple collar of the men like shirt and the collar of his unstructured jacket, but generally all the clothes by this brand have the wide fit in common. So on one hand they are confortable clothes made nicer by a particular cut, on the other does not enhance the the body shape and tend to be very casual, to the limit of sloppyness.
