Genova e Recco mangerecce/Foodie Genoa and Recco

Going to Liguria I finally managed to meet Clara aka RagazzAcidella. In fact, I took the opportunity to make an almost local person show me around. The first day we met in Genoa and we immediately started very well with a tour of the historic buildings of the University and an ice cream at Profumo di Rosa, a delicious homemade ice cream parlour. I took rose (the flower) and mimosa (the sweet) that are between the special flavors of the place. There were 14 other flavors, all very interesting. It also seems that Rosa, the owner, during the "Rolli Days", translates ancient recipes of the Ligurian tradition into ice cream, and that during the "Festival of Poetry" prepares every day one or two special flavours. Among other things, it is also a particularly friendly ice cream because you can taste the flavors about which you are uncertain and because the owner speaks fluent Italian, English, German, Portuguese, French and Spanish.

After a walk downtown, I dragged Clara to Boccadasse, an ancient fishing village incorporated in the city, that I absolutely wanted to visit. It is famous because it has been preserved as it looked like 100-200 years ago, with narrow pastel houses around a small bay with a small beach. It was very quaint, but as Clara warned me, very small too, we visited it in a few minutes.
But then we sat at Antica Osteria Dindi to drink a cocktailright next to the beach. We paid  8€ each, but if the landscape was not enough, despite not being a buffet, the food that came with it was a lot, with a plate of rice salad, puff pastry, peanuts, nachos with dips and raw vegetable sticks.

We came back to Genoa and we had a walk in the city center again.
We were having so much fun that I refused to take the train and I stayed for dinner. Clara took me to eat at La Mandragola, in Vico San Cosimo 2.
I loved the environment in a historical building with a carved sign, an ethnic inside, with three rooms of three different colors (yellow, green and red) and an outside with tables in the courtyard and cushions on the steps of the adjacent church. It seems that in the summer in the square there are also cultural events and that the place is very popular with young Genoese and artists.
In the menu there were many fish dishes and Ligurian specialties, but also dishes from Kashmir. Clara and I we shared Rosazza spaghetti with tomatoes, anchovies and pine nuts and a dish from Kashmir with spiced rice with raisins, eggplants and yogurt sauce. It was all very good!

We were able to met a second time, in the evening, and we went to Recco to eat its famous cheese focaccia.
The most famous is the one by Manuelina that claim its invention, but it was too far from the station, so we went to another famous backery, Tossini. They prepared the focaccia expecially for us, than we bought two beers at a bar and went to eat on the dock watching the sunset. Fantastic, thin dough dripping cheese (of course I stained my new pants), with a sprinkling of polenta on the bottom.

To round off the nicht before taking the train we went to get an ice cream at Gelateria Cavassa in Lungomare Bettolo, 31. It had a lot of flavours and I choose my beloved panera (a typical Ligurian coffee icecream) and crunchy rum that was perhaps even better.
